Can I request Out-of-Stock items?
Yes. When an item is out of stock it is usually on loan (though occasionally Out of Stock may also imply in repair). You can still add this item to your basket and your request will be put in the queue for the item. When the item becomes available again and you are the next person in line to receive it, it will be checked-out to you as soon as possible.
What happens when I have received my loan?
When you receive your loan, please sign on to the site and complete the receipts page. The receipt page can be found by going to the “My Loans” page on the left after sign in, then go to “My Receipts” and fill out accordingly. Once the loan item has been receipted by a member, it is the responsibility of that member to ensure that it is used according to the manufacturer’s instructions and returned in the condition in which it was received.
How long can I borrow an item for?
The normal loan period for any item is dictated by the library, please contact your library for this information.
This loan includes time for check-out/receipt and training; time for the end user to trial the device in their chosen setting and sufficient time for the member to arrange return of the item to the Library. You will be notified when an item is due to be returned a number of days before it is due. You can also check the due date of your loan items at any stage during your loan period by going to “My Loans/ My Returns”.

How do I return an item?
You may return an item to the library as soon as you are ready to do so and no later than the time required to ensure it is back with us by the due date. When you have received an email reminder that the item is due you should start getting it ready to be collected. You must make sure that all the components for the device are present and working. You must then go to the “My Loans” page on the left after signing in, then go to “My Returns” and fill out the details. You must then print out the return document and attach it to the item. When the item is ready, it can be returned by one of the following mechanisms:
- by hand, if you are local to the lending branch
- by post, if it is a small and inexpensive item
- by courier, arranged by the library
Please ensure that the item is securely and safely packaged to ensure no damage is sustained during transport.
If you are ready to return it sooner, please do. In particular, loans for professional training purposes are expected to require shorter loan periods. Please return to us ASAP. This enables faster turn-around on available items.
How will I learn how to use the item?
Instructions will be included for many of the items. These will either be the official instructions or a quick guide which includes the most common uses. Some items may not have instructions included in hard copy, however please check the product page from our website for relevant links and downloads. Other items will not need instructions as they may be easy or straight forward to use. If you have any difficulties with a certain item, instructions can be found online. If you need additional support we would encourage you to contact the supplier (see links from the product page).
What happens if an item or component is damaged or lost?
Should an item become lost or damaged when you have received it, please contact us first. We may be able to troubleshoot with you. If this cannot be done please complete the My Receipt page, reporting that the specific item was either not received or damaged in the appropriate drop down menu and report the specific problem in the comment box. Please let us know when you have done this and we will arrange collection.
Who is responsible for the item?
The Organisation that the member is part of is responsible for the item and any damage sustained while it is on loan to the member. If the member is using or loaning it to a client they have the choice to have the client fill out a loan agreement form that parts responsibility to the client, loan agreement forms may be obtained from your library.

The ATLibrary system will automatically send you an email before you are due to return an item and again, once you are due to return an item.
