About ATLibrary
A Message From The Founders
In 2009, a consortium of five organisations in Ireland had a visionary concept – to radically improve access to Assistive Technology (AT) for the disabled community by connecting users, health professionals and institutions on a shared technology infrastructure. We were asked to write the software to support this initiative. Known as www.try-it.ie, the web-based system we built increased the accessible pool of loan equipment and allowed people across Ireland to share information about their experiences. It enabled healthcare professionals and service users to make better decisions about life-changing technologies that are too expensive to buy without the assurance of an appropriate trial period. It eliminated the cost of abandoned equipment which doesn’t meet individual needs, and helped transform the way people access AT nationwide.
We realised that so many organisations worldwide were grappling with similar situations.
The primary stumbling block for these organisations was the cost of entry. We decided then to develop a solution to meet those same needs, one that is cost-effective, packed with useful tools and really simple to use.
And so ATLibrary was born.
